El album empieza con el instrumental "Sunrise Overture(1)" luego entra "Calico Silver(2)" que es acerca de un hombre que deja
su finca después de una inundación para tomar un trabajo en las minas de plata cerca al pueblo de Calico.
"Write Me Down(3)" es acerca de la gente que fue olvidada con el tiempo "The Way It Used to be(4)" habla de la vida del día a día
en Calico. "Madame De Lil and Diaboilical Bill(5)", la encargada del Saloon quien espanta su novio del pueblo cuando averigua
que le está robando.
Lado 2
Empieza con "School Teacher(6)", la profesora quien enfrenta ser una criada vieja(La profesora, Virginia Merritt, realmente
tenía 20 años en esa época y se casó luego de dejar a Calico).
"Road Agent(7)", es acerca de un agente sin salida. "Sally Grey's Epitaph(8)" se basó en una lápida del cementerio del pueblo.
"Dorsey, the Mail-Carrying Dog(9)", el perro que entrega el correo al administrador discapacitado.
En esta canción cada miembro del grupo ladra como un perro (lo que termina en risa). La última canción termina de repente
con la frase "your carrying dog" cortada (corregida en mp3).
Lado 3
Empieza con la frase perdida (en el lp, no en el mp3) e inmediatamente entra la primera canción, "Harbor for My Soul(10)".
"Calico Saturday Night(11)" es instrumental,
seguida por "Trigger Happy Kid(12)" que habla de un jóven que idolatra los pistoleros.
Termina con "Vachel Carling's Rubilator(13)", que es de un hombre que crea un nuevo invento, el cual se apodera
del pueblo.
Lado 4
"Empty Handed Compadres(14)" es de los exploradores que regresaron sin nada. "One Lonely Room(15)" habla de un hombre que nunca deja
el pueblo después de convertirse en pueblo fantasma.
"Rockin' Chair Theme(16)" es una pieza breve instrumentel que conduce a la siguiente canción, "Old Mojave Highway(17)" acerca del
camino que cruzó el desierto (ahora la Interstate 15). "Man Came up from Town(18)" habla de los restos de un hombre
primitivo encontrado en la montañas. El album cierra con "Calico Silver (reprise)(19)" en la cual la plata se agota y el pueblo
se convierte en un pueblo fantasma.

Kenny Rogers - 50 Years - 2008
Kenny Rogers está orgulloso de sus 50 años de carrera, pero no puede evitar decir
que lo mejor aún está por venir.
“Para mí, la meta es mantenerme relevante tanto tiempo como pueda”, dijo Rogers, que acaba
de publicar en los Estados Unidos una retrospectiva de su carrera, "Kenny Rogers: 50 Years".
Entre las 12 canciones del álbum se incluyen éxitos como “Lucille” y “The Gambler”, además
de tres temas nuevos.
“Es una de las cosas que seguiré haciendo, pero tener tus temas sonando en la radio y tener
éxito contemporáneo... eso es emocionante”, comentó el vocalista.
Rogers, de 70 años, se convirtió en una superestrella en los años '70 y '80. Su carrera
se enfrió en los '90, pero aún continúa teniendo éxito en las emisoras de música
country de los Estados Unidos.
Actualmente está grabando un nuevo álbum. “La gente de la radio me lo ha dicho de
muchas maneras: 'Si hacés un gran trabajo, lo vamos a pasar. Pero si es algo promedio,
tendrás que esperar en línea'”, comentó.
“Siempre he sido un cantante country con muchas influencias”, dijo Rogers, quien cantó jazz,
folk y rock antes de encontrar su lugar con un sonido country-pop. “Pienso que eso me ayudó
porque puedo interpretar una gran cantidad de canciones”.
